Family Stays in Jackson, Upgrades to Bigger Property

Frank and Debbie knew it was time to move when their daughter started playing in front of their house and didn’t have enough room.  The house didn’t have a sidewalk, and the couple was worried about her safety playing outside.

They liked their town, Jackson, though, happy with the schools and people in the area, so they kept their search for a new home in the neighborhood.

With home prices lower than in recent years, the couple saw the market conditions as an opportunity to upgrade.  The home they were selling would go for a lower price than it might have been sold at a few years ago, but the same would be true of the home they were looking to purchase.

“The market was on our side and we knew our cost would even out in the end,” Frank said.  “We were also in no rush and knew that we could take as much time as we needed to buy and sell at the right price.”

Although Frank and Debbie understood the market conditions, even they were surprised at how quickly the process unfolded.

By May 2009, the couple finished some repairs to their old home, readying it for open houses, and enlisted the help of REALTOR® Cathie.  They put their home on the market and began house-hunting the same day.  One week later, they entered into contract on their home and put in an offer on a new home in Jackson.  They are scheduled to close on both homes in June 2009.

Frank and Debbie found a new place that they fell for immediately.  It has everything they were looking for: a second floor, fireplace, extra bedrooms and bathrooms, a pool, and a big front yard with sidewalks.

“Our daughter can play outside and we don’t have to worry about her safety as much as before,” said Frank.
